There are currently over 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in the United States, according to the National Center for Charitable Statistics. The majority of them are solving problems, saving lives and creating social good every single day.
With all the competition for donations and media coverage, how can you get your nonprofit and your cause noticed? How can you reach new supporters and better connect with and engage current supporters, volunteers and donors?
Technology and social media tools are transforming the way that nonprofit organizations fundraise, raise awareness and fulfill their missions through marketing. Whether it is establishing a voice on Facebook, sending up to-the-minute updates on Twitter or analyzing current events on a blog, new media tools offer huge potential to nonprofits.
When used in conjunction with traditional media channels such as press releases, radio ads and email newsletters, nonprofits can fully harness the power of marketing to their advantage and get their message out effectively.
The Nonprofit Marketing course will explore best practices and case studies in nonprofit marketing and will provide students with hands-on tips currently being used by nonprofits to engage stakeholders.
Through the Nonprofit Marketing course, you will learn how to:
- Identify and reach new supporters of your organization;
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing supporters;
- Create great email newsletters, websites and blog posts;
- Build long-lasting partnerships with the media and press;
- Integrate all marketing efforts to ensure consistency across your nonprofit brand.
Students will be exposed to all the major marketing channels that nonprofits use today and learn how to apply them specifically in the context of their organization, large or small.
This course offers a unique, interactive format. The instructor will focus on providing specific answers to real-world questions that are common to most attendees. The emphasis in all sessions is on avoiding theoretical discussions in favor of practical tools and techniques that nonprofit professionals can actually use.

- How to market your blog and get readers
Week 5 – Events and Fundraising
- How to tie marketing into fundraising campaigns
Week 6 – Measuring results and tying it all together
- How to determine the success of your marketing plan?
