How Nonprofits Can Engage Millennial Donors and VolunteersYesterday I presented at the Liberty Bank Foundation Go Boldly nonprofit conference.

The conference theme was focused on the sustainability and growth of the sector – ways that nonprofits can change and adapt in order to thrive in the future.

My workshop topic was How Nonprofits Can Engage Millennial Donors and Volunteers.

Millennials, NextGen, Gen Y – while they are humans after all, there are some distinct differences in these generations that nonprofits need to understand – and embrace – in order to get younger supporters and volunteers to participate.

In my presentation, I covered:

Prevalent myths and misconceptions that are hurting your ability to reach this generation;

How to recruit and engage Millennials into your organization;

How to use specific social media platforms to reach younger donors and volunteers;

How to incorporate storytelling into your content to attract younger donors;

Real-world examples from nonprofits getting it right.
