Infographics are taking the world by storm! Nonprofit infographics are growing in popularity as marketing and fundraising tools, and there are many reasons for this:
**In just the last two years, Google searches for infographics have increased by over 800%.
**Blogs that use infographics grow in traffic an average of 12% more than those that do not.
**Social news site Digg reported that since 2007, posts containing infographics have increased 250x!
For example, take this great nonprofit infographic (below) from Compassion International. There are several things that I love about it.
First: It’s eye-catching. The colors, the price tags and the images make you stop and look to see what it’s all about.
Second: It’s clear. The message is very clear – you have choices in the way you spend your money and the way you purchase gifts. Why not put you money towards something unique and life-changing,r ather than the same old tchotckes that no one really appreciates anyway?
Third: It’s compelling. It makes you think twice. Yes, maybe I could spend $34 on a new sweater for my mom that she may or may not like, I could spend hours in the crowds in Macy’s agonizing over size, color and fit – or I could take the money and put it towards a “Newborn Care Package”. (As a current and expecting mother, I think that would be pretty neat!)
They have their logo and URL at the top so there is no confusion if you want more information (I also love that their URL is easy to remember and clearly conveys the purpose of the page – www.Compassion.com/BetterGift).
There may be some critics, but personally I do not see any guilt or brow-beating in this message. Sure, it is clear that they want to raise money for their programs by using their Gift Catalog.
But it works, and if it helps save lives, who am I to argue?
How can your nonprofit entice more donations this holiday season by using nonprofit infographics?
