A Simple Way To Get More Social Media Engagement This Holiday Season

Nonprofits everywhere are always looking for more engagement and interaction from their online communities.

As the holiday season approaches, everyone is going to have “giving” on the brain (at least, we hope).

So how to leverage this season of generosity while also fostering genuine online interaction with your community?

How about asking your supporters and donors WHY they give?

Guidestar is holding a social media campaign asking people why they give to the causes that they care about.

It’s simple, and effective.

Guidestar aims to celebrate the givers and the nonprofits they support through a photo campaign. Details are here: http://bit.ly/17pN8oq

The instructions are simple:

1. Take a photo of yourself holding a sign that says, “#IGive4 [cause/motivation] [favorite charity].”

2. Post your photo on Twitter, Instagram, or Tumblr and use the hashtag #IGive4.

3. You can also send the photo to david.mundy@guidestar.org

Guidestar will search for and curate all the great content around the #IGive4 hashtag and share the images through their own channels. They will also link to the nonprofits that are featured.

What a great way to showcase and celebrate your own online community!

How can your nonprofit adapt this idea to encourage engagement with supporters on social networks?
