I am pleased to have been featured on my friend Jeannine O’Neil’s super social media podcast, Social Eyes!
In this episode, we discuss:
Social media is about being your authentic self and building your community.
**The goal for getting on social media (from a marketing standpoint) is to create a dynamic, engaged community of people.
**Telling a story is absolutely key for success, not just for nonprofits.
**Do your best to be fully authentic and humanize the experience.
**It is about customizing your feed for your audience.
**Understanding who you want, who your ideal person is key and then serving up information they enjoy.
Quotables
“Social media marketing is using online tools to build a community and engage with your people where they are.” – @JuliaCSocial
“It is not what you want to say, it is about what others want to hear. It is about customizing your feed for your audience.” – @JuliaCSocial
“Everyone is on Facebook, no one does it perfectly including me but there are certain things to be effective.” –@JuliaCSocial
There is no one size fits all for social media marketing.
**There are, however, best practices/guidelines that can be applied in different ways, depending on your business and your audience.
Things to ask yourself when exploring a new channel:
**Is my audience there?
**Can I provide value in the space?
**Do I have a capacity to manage it?
