The very first Nonprofit Social Media Summit was held on August 29th at Babson College, near Boston, MA – and what a day it was!!

The Summit was chock full of actionable sessions and high energy, filled with practical information that left nonprofits feel confident and excited to head back to their organizations and slay social media.

But don’t take it from me – listen to what the attendees had to say:

“(T)his day was the perfect vehicle to help me marry my professional background with social media best practices to help my NP define their ‘brand’, deepen relationships with existing supporters and find new ones who are likely to care about our mission. Take a bow folks! Drop the mic. Leave the stage to thunderous applause. Bang! You killed it!

In thirty years of conference-going I can honestly say this was the most idea-packed, directly-usable, highly relevant, real-world advice machine I’ve ever had the pleasure of being witness to. Seriously, the NP social media experts coupled with the front line case studies of real organizations generated tons of immediately useable ideas, strategies, and tactics. It was easily the best 8 hours of learning I’ve ever had.”

You have to lose a little bit of control.

Your story is vital to someone (maybe a handful of people!) so don’t be afraid to share it.

Use Facebook Ads strategically, rather than simply boosting posts without a plan.

Use personalized videos!

Donor love and gratitude needs to be a priority.

Get better stock photos and make better graphics using free tools.

Remember the user experience when doing a P2P campaign.
